Marine Drive

Have you ever been in love with some place? Has any place marked long lasting impression on you? If not visit here! If you have such place, then also visit here, favorite place list will surely reshuffle. Friends, I am talking about MARINE DRIVE.

Marine Drive is a skillfully laid-out boulevard in South Mumbai. It is actually an upturned 'C'-shaped six lane concrete road, which lengthens to 3 km along the coastline - a natural bay. This avenue connects Nariman Point with Malabar Hills. Situated over domesticated land, facing west-south-west, its coastline forms the part of the Arabian Sea. What draws attention to this avenue is the striking esplanade next to the road. Palm trees are lined up along the road, presenting a picturesque view and nice walkway to take a stroll. At nights, Marine Drive looks stunning illuminated, with lights and if seen from some elevated point beside the road, it appears like a necklace with street lights resembling a string of pearls. Attributable to its extravagant loveliness, it is also known as Queen's Necklace.

Come here in any season, any time of day, you will find this place evergreen, energetic. Come for the morning walk, inhale fresh air and enthusiasm for a day. Come in the afternoon, enjoy the wind. See sun rays kissing water and water shining. Come in the evening, take a walk for a while, cool wind will sooth your whole body, headphones in ears, beauties passing by will please your eyes, legs will surely not complaint and you will even not come to know that yours day's tension, boredom has vanished. Come in the late night by bike and do zoooooooooooom over the road.

One day if you have plenty of time then come fursatse in the evening. Lay down on back on one of the rocks. Sun will be on its return journey. Observe the twilight. Enormous shades of colors will be there on the horizon. Gradually darkness will spread all over the atmosphere. At the same time thousands of lights will be illuminating around. Look on top, stars will be blinking showing their faces. Combination of man-made and natural light spots will delight you. Around you will be cool breeze and tides hugging the rocks making melodious notes. Sunset here will surely loose your senses out of joy.

Come here in rainy season. Thousands of water rays will be falling on you, get showered. Those who are afraid of getting wet (poor fellows), be with your umbrellas, raincoats and watch dance of water rays. There will be गरमागरम कणसं waiting for you. Its heaven when whole body shivering with cold and गरमागरम कणसं with taste of lemon and masala in hands.

Come here with group, you will find no other better place to chat and do masti. Many food hubs, theaters are within reach from here. Come with your partner. Both of you will have unforgettable date ( Date itself is precious, but on marine drive is like diamond in the gold ring!). Even if you come alone, don't worry! you are welcome here. There will be many more like you. Enjoy the beauty, feel the nature and enter in the world of dreams.

Surely this place is charismatic. Here you will get wanting silence and space for yourself, something uncommon in Mumbai's stressful, crowded life. Positive energy here will influence you and you will be rejuvenated. You will discover your dreams, ambitions. Come here in any mood, you will go back with joy in heart and hope in mind.

Fortunately I got job near this place and then I get familiar with this place.
I came here on the very first day of my job, on days when I got increments, projects were delivered. on day when I decided to quit job. My most of the tea-breaks have happened here. Even now something special happens in my life, I run here, sitting on the rocks I do celebration. Innumerable memorable, sweet memories are associated with this place. This place is very close to my heart! I am deeply in love with this place!

Oops! Look at the time... Its almost 12.30 night! I must wrap up things and run for the 12.46 last local.

I hope you have not copied the geographical information from some site!
I wish I had my office tea breaks at such locations too... but for sure I would love to spend my "precious" moments at such location.

  4. This place is one which is very dear to me too! "Queen's Necklance" - That is what this place is called. To know why, you should either hover over this place in a helicopter, or be at the top of Oberoi towers! But to get an idea, just be at the end of of it - Nariman Point (where Munnabhai used to sit!) and look all the way to the other end of 'Marine Drive'!

Anyways, I am not good at writing as Siddhu is...so will cut it out here itself! Siddhu thanks for writing down about Marine Drive...!
